PDS to EDF: NDC full of "conjecture" – Kpemka

Deputy Attorney General Joseph Dindiok Kpemka has rubbished allegations by the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) that President Nana Akufo-Addo is scheming to award the Power Distribution Service (PDS) contract to a new company from France, in a bid to acquire majority shares in the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG).

PDS has been under investigation for alleged fraudulent conduct in connection with its takeover of the assets of the state-owned ECG.

At a media briefing at the NDC's headquarters in Accra on Tuesday, 10 September 2019, the General Secretary of the biggest opposition party, Mr Johnson Asiedu Nketia, told the press that a further probe them into the PDS saga revealed a new attempt by the government to contract EDF, a French energy firm, to take over the operations of PDS.

Responding to the accusations, the Tempane lawmaker said the NDC is noted for throwing out speculations without concrete evidence.

He told Class 91.3FM’s Jerry Akornor that the NDC is uninformed on the PDS matter because the party has no further and better particulars on it.

“The NDC stays in the realm of conjecture and speculation. How privy are they to what the president intends to do? I will not join the bandwagon of people who are conjecturing", he said.
