PNC endorses John Mahama ahead of December elections
The People’s National Convention (PNC) has thrown its support behind the National Democratic Congress (NDC) flagbearer, John Dramani Mahama, for the upcoming December 7 general elections.
The endorsement was announced by PNC National Chairman, Samson Awingobit, speaking in an interview on the Ghana Yensom Morning Show co-hosted by Kaayire Kwesi Appea-Apreku and Odehyeeba Kofi Essuman on Accra 100.5 FM on November 28.
According to him, the decision followed extensive consultations with the party’s National Executive Committee (NEC) and Functional Executive Committee (FEC).
He said the PNC cannot remain neutral especially when its Presidential Candidate was disqualified by the Electoral Commission.
So there is the need for the PNC its stand going into the election hence the decision to declare support for the NDC“
With nine days to the general elections and the PNC not fielding a presidential candidate, the party cannot remain neutral.
As National Chairman, in consultation with the leader, we invited NEC – comprising our regional representatives, including Chairmen and Secretaries – alongside FEC members, to deliberate and make this important decision,” Awingobit stated.
He said the decision to support NDC was arrived at by consensus.
