Patrick Yaw Boamah declared MP-elect for Okaikwei Central following re-collation of results
Patrick Yaw Boamah of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has been declared the Member of Parliament-elect for Okaikwei Central Constituency in the Greater Accra Region after a final collation of results ordered by the High Court.
Boamah secured 21,099 votes, defeating Baba Sadiq Abdulai Abu of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), who received 19,368 votes.
The victory margin stood at 1,731 votes.
The declaration followed a High Court directive that compelled the Electoral Commission (EC) to finalize results from 31 outstanding polling stations, which had not been included in the initial tally.
Baba Sadiq was initially declared the winner on election day, sparking disputes that led to legal action by the NPP.
The court subsequently ordered the re-collation of results to resolve the discrepancies.
The re-collation confirmed Boamah’s victory, consolidating the NPP’s hold on the Okaikwei Central seat.
This marks a successful defense of the seat for the NPP and a setback for Baba Sadiq, who has lost his first bid to enter Parliament.
