President John Dramani Mahama has officially received letters of credence from five newly accredited ambassadors to Ghana in a ceremony held at the Jubilee House earlier today.

The event marked a significant step in strengthening diplomatic ties between Ghana and its international partners.

The new ambassadors include:

Madam Laura Ranalli – Italy Mr. Julio Enrique Pujol Torres – Cuba Mrs. Musu Jatu Ruhle – Liberia Dr. Abdulla Muraid Sulaiman Mohammed Al Mandoos – United Arab Emirates Mr. Ali Ghomshi – Iran

While receiving Italian Ambassador Madam Laura Ranalli, President Mahama highlighted the historical ties between Ghana and Italy.

He noted that this was the first credential ceremony since he assumed office on January 7, making Italy’s presence a strong symbol of the enduring friendship between the two nations.

Touching on energy cooperation, President Mahama disclosed that he recently held discussions with Mr. Claudio Descalzi, CEO of Italian energy giant ENI.

He expressed satisfaction with the resolution of previous challenges and confirmed that ENI remains committed to investing in Ghana’s energy sector.

Currently, ENI supplies nearly 60 percent of Ghana’s total gas for power generation, and further collaboration with the Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC) is in the pipeline.

The President also acknowledged Italy’s contributions to Ghana’s development, citing major engineering projects such as the Akosombo and Kpone hydroelectric dams, which have played a crucial role in the country’s power generation and economic growth.

The newly accredited ambassadors are expected to work closely with the Ghanaian government to enhance bilateral relations and foster cooperation across various sectors.

On her part, Madam Ranalli congratulated President Mahama on his decisive victory in the December 7 general election.

She said the strengthening of the cooperation between the Ghana Government and Eni, had been welcomed in Italy with great interest, since they open up new opportunities for investment and development.
