Suhum MP launches “Help Re-roof Suhum” initiative after devastating rainstorm

Member of Parliament for Suhum Constituency in the Eastern Region, Mr. Frank Asiedu Bekoe, popularly known as Protozoa, has swiftly responded to the aftermath of a destructive rainstorm that struck parts of his constituency on Friday, May 9, 2025.
The storm, accompanied by torrential rainfall, caused widespread damage, tearing off roofs and leaving numerous families displaced.
In the immediate aftermath, Mr. Bekoe toured the hardest-hit communities alongside officials from the Suhum office of the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) to assess the extent of the damage and offer moral and practical support to the victims.
Speaking during his visit, the MP expressed deep sorrow over the situation and pledged his unwavering support to the affected residents
“This is a painful moment for many of our people. I have come to stand with you, not just as your MP, but as a brother who shares in your pain,” he said, according to Apelete Kofi-Michel of Accra FM/CTV News.
Mr. Bekoe called on NADMO to expedite its damage assessment process to enable a swift and coordinated response.
He emphasised that a detailed report was crucial for mobilising the necessary resources to support the recovery efforts.
In response to the crisis, the MP launched the “Help Re-roof Suhum” initiative—a community-driven campaign aimed at soliciting support from individuals, NGOs, and corporate organisations to help re-roof damaged homes and restore hope to affected families.
The initiative seeks to provide both immediate relief and long-term solutions for rebuilding, with Mr. Bekoe urging all stakeholders to rally behind the cause.
Meanwhile, several victims have appealed to the government and benevolent organisations to urgently come to their aid, as they continue to grapple with the destruction and displacement caused by the storm.
The Suhum MP’s proactive engagement has been lauded by residents, many of whom see his efforts as a beacon of hope in a difficult time.
