Thousands throng Tamale North as Suhuyini launches 2024 campaign

On Saturday, October 12, 2024, thousands of enthusiastic supporters filled the streets of Tamale North to witness the launch of Alhassan Suhuyini’s 2024 re-election campaign.
The incumbent Member of Parliament (MP) for Tamale North officially kicked off his bid for another term on the ticket of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), with a massive show of support from both his constituents and party loyalists.
The launch was graced by key NDC parliamentarians, including former Minority Leader Haruna Iddrisu, and North Tongu MP Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, alongside other notable MPs.
These prominent figures rallied behind Suhuyini, commending his efforts in serving the people of Tamale North and urging the crowd to remain committed to ensuring his victory in the upcoming elections.
The presence of these senior MPs underscored the unity within the party and the importance of maintaining strong representation in the Northern Region.
Several executives from the NDC also participated in the campaign launch, further signifying the party’s high-level support for Suhuyini’s re-election bid.
In addition, Sam George, the MP for Ningo-Prampram, was among the attendees, lending his voice to the call for a collective push to secure victory for the party in 2024.
He emphasised the need for teamwork and a strategic approach as the NDC aims to increase its parliamentary majority.
During the event, Haruna Iddrisu called on the NDC parliamentary caucus, the Speaker of Parliament, and all NDC members to take action by Wednesday, October 16, to declare the NDC as the majority group in Parliament, in line with Article 97(g) of the Constitution.
This declaration, he argued, was crucial for asserting the party’s numerical advantage and securing its influence in legislative processes.
His call for swift action energised the crowd, highlighting the stake in the coming months leading up to the general elections.
