UK: Abena Oppong-Asare sworn in as MP; appointed Parliamentary Secretary in the Cabinet Office

British-Ghanaian Abena Oppong-Asare has been sworn into Parliament for the second time as the MP for Erith and Thamesmead in the UK.
Following the election of a Labour Government on July 4, 2024, she has also been appointed as the Parliamentary Secretary in the Cabinet Office.
In this role, Abena will work on cross-government delivery and implementation of the Government’s priorities within the Cabinet Office.
She expressed her pleasure on her website about working under the Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster, The Rt Hon Pat McFadden MP, and alongside other Cabinet Office Ministers, including Ellie Reeves MP, The Rt Hon Nick Thomas-Symonds MP, and Georgia Gould MP.
Abena acknowledged the immense responsibility of her role in the Government and committed to working tirelessly to deliver meaningful change and improve the lives of working people and families across the UK.
