United Fetish Priests President defends Sammy Gyamfi over $800 gift to Nana Agradaa

The President of the United Fetish Priest Association of Ghana, Nana Mosi Bansere, has come to the defense of the Acting CEO of the Ghana Gold Board, Sammy Gyamfi, amid growing calls for his dismissal over an $800 cash donation he made to Evangelist Patricia Asiedu Asiamah, popularly known as Nana Agradaa.
Responding to sections of the public who have criticised the gesture and are urging President John Dramani Mahama to relieve Mr. Gyamfi of his duties, Nana Mosi described the reaction as hypocritical and unwarranted.
“What crime has Sammy Gyamfi committed?” he asked.
“He gave Agradaa $800 at a public event, not in secrecy.
Yet some people are calling for his head? We’ve seen politicians distribute cars, fridges, TV sets, and huge sums of money to delegates during both internal elections and the 2024 general elections.
Why were they not questioned?”
Nana Mosi Bansere told journalists that the donation to Nana Agradaa should not be construed as a bribe or an act of corruption, emphasising that Sammy Gyamfi, a prominent political figure, is financially capable of making such a contribution.
“This was not a backdoor deal. It was done openly.
Agradaa demanded the money, and Sammy Gyamfi did not promise her anything in return.
So where is the wrongdoing?” he questioned.
He further cautioned the leadership of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) not to bow to pressure to dismiss Sammy Gyamfi, stressing that doing so could harm the party's image and unity.
“Sammy Gyamfi has done nothing wrong.
The NDC should protect him, not punish him,” Nana Mosi added.
