Dr. Mathew Opoku Prempeh, Vice Presidential Candidate for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has reaffirmed the party’s commitment to providing essential resources for responsible small-scale mining in Ghana.

Speaking at a campaign rally in Seyerano, located in the Sefwi Juaboso Constituency of the Western North Region, Dr. Prempeh assured miners of the NPP's plans to supply equipment, financial assistance, and technical training to enhance sustainable mining practices under the next NPP government, led by Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.

During a durbar that included Chiefs, Queen Mothers, Islamic and Christian clergy, community groups, and Seyerano residents, Dr. Prempeh presented a strong case for supporting Dr. Bawumia over John Mahama in the upcoming December 7 election.

He called on the people of Juaboso to vote in support of the NPP's Parliamentary Candidate, emphasizing that overcoming opposition from the NDC Minority in Parliament is crucial to advancing development initiatives.

Dr. Prempeh appealed specifically to mining communities, underscoring the need for a government that prioritizes sustainable and environmentally conscious mining.

He stated that while the NPP government supports the mining industry, it stands firmly against illegal operations that harm the environment.

In addition to his rally, Dr. Prempeh addressed students of the College of Health in Sefwi Asafo, emphasizing the achievements of the NPP government, including the Free Senior High School (SHS) programme and the restoration of allowances, which were previously cut under the Mahama administration.

He urged students to keep their trust in the NPP, the party that introduced Free SHS and made significant strides in gender parity in education, noting that for every 100 boys now in school, 107 girls are enrolled—a milestone he promised would continue under Dr. Bawumia’s leadership.

Meanwhile, a Queen Mother from Bia East Constituency openly criticized the area’s NDC MP, challenging him to showcase any developmental projects he has successfully implemented.

Declaring her support for the NPP, she stated that all progress in her Constituency has come through NPP efforts, and she is willing to step down as Queen Mother if the NDC MP can prove otherwise.

Mr  Alex Tetteh, the Member of Parliament for Sefwi Akontombra, also addressed the gathering, reiterating the NPP’s dedication to impactful development across Ghana.
