The Director of Communications for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Richard Ahiagbah, has called on voters in the Volta Region to support Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia in the upcoming 2024 general elections.
Mr. Ahiagbah highlighted Dr. Bawumia's commitment to the region's development, particularly plans to establish a free zone in the border town of Aflao within the Ketu South Constituency.
Speaking ahead of Dr. Bawumia's tour of the Volta Region on Thursday, 30 May 2024, Mr. Ahiagbah emphasised the significant economic benefits of creating a Free Zone enclave.
“A Free Zone enclave in the Volta Region is a game-changer,” he stated, underscoring the potential for substantial economic growth and prosperity.
In a post on X, Mr. Ahiagbah urged the people of the Volta Region to warmly welcome the Vice- President during his visit and to support his candidacy by voting for him in the upcoming polls.
He highlighted the importance of Dr. Bawumia's proposed initiatives for the region's development.
“Volta must support Bawumia and reject Mahama. Bawumia's leadership will boost economic activity, create more jobs, and increase regional export production. Bawumia plans to establish Special Economic Zones or free zones in border towns, including Aflao in the Ketu South Constituency," Mr. Ahiagbah posted.
Criticising former President Mahama's lack of plans for the region, Mr. Ahiagbah quizzed: “What is former President Mahama's vision or plan for the Volta Region? The development of the Volta Region will inform our votes in 2024 and not sentiment.”
