You won't see Mahama again after voting for him; he'll have nothing at stake - Bawumia warns electorate
Former President John Mahama will not bother about accounting to the people if voted for because he is only entitled to one more term, Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia has said.
Speaking at a meeting with the clergy in the Northern Region, the New Patriotic Party flagbearer said unlike his main rival of the opposition National Democratic Congress, he would be more accountable since he can run for two terms.
“For me, because I am looking for an 8-year term, I have to work very hard in the first four years so that when I come back, you will say, 'Oh yes, you did what you said you were going to do. We will give you another four years'".
"But for my main opponent, when you give him four years, that is it", Dr Bawumia contrasted, noting: "He doesn’t have to come back again".
"You won’t see him again, especially after he takes his honeymoon, you will not see him after four years", Dr Bawumia stressed.
“So, you will get more accountability from me than from him.”
