2023 All African Games still on course – Sports Minister
Ghana’s Sports Minister Isaac Kwame Asiamah has announced that Ghana will still host the All African Games in 2023 despite the threat of COVID-19.
In a meet-the-press session that took place on 3 June 2020, Mr Asiamah noted that there has not been any indication of a possible postponement of the games despite the threat of COVID-19.
“Notwithstanding the negative effect of COVID-19 on global sporting programmes, I am happy to announce that Ghana hosting and organising the 2023 All African Games is on course. So far, there has not been any indication of the postponement of the games.”
“The 2023 project team, led by my hardworking Deputy Minister Perry Okudzeto are feverishly preparing for the event come 2023”, Mr Asiamah said.
Ghana won the rights to host the continent’s multi-sporting event in 2018 after beating Egypt in a bid.
The games would also serve as qualifiers for the various disciplines for the Olympic Games in Paris in 2024.
