Afcon: You were 'abysmal' – Sports Minister to Black Stars; summons GFA
The Ministry of Youth and Sports (MoYS) has summoned the Ghana Football Association leadership to an emergency meeting scheduled for Friday, 21 January 2022, to urgently discuss and take decisions aimed at salvaging the poor performance of the Black Stars.
The meeting has become necessary following the team’s early exit from the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon.
Ghana exited the completion on Tuesday night, 18 January 2022, after a 3-2 defeat to Afcon debutants Comoros.
The team picked just one point in three matches and finished last in Group C behind Morocco, Gabon and Comoros.
The Sports Ministry, in a statement, said it is disappointed with the team's “abysmal performance” and early exit from the competition, especially when it gave the team all the needed logistical and financial support including resources for preparation and participating in the qualifier stage to the tournament and eventually pre-tournament camping in Qatar.
