Asante Kotoko board chair quits
The Board Chairman of Kumasi Asante Kotok, Dr Kwame Kyei, has resigned from his position.
His resignation is yet to be approved by the life patron of the club, Asantehene Otumfou Osei Tutu II.
Manhyia sources say Dr Kwame Kyei, who is the owner of Unity Oil Company Limited, communicated his decision to resign from the club to the Asante monarch on Tuesday, 12 October 2021, when the Board members met the life patron at his palace.
However, his decision to resign was not readily accepted by Otumfuo, as he asked the Board members to deliberate on the matter and give him feedback.
According to reports, the Board members could not make a decision immediately on Dr Kwame Kyei’s decision at the meeting and asked for more time to deliberate on whether or not to accept his resignation.
Dr Kwame Kyei is said to have told Otumfuo that he had invested heavily in the club with no returns and did not have the support of the other Board members.
