Black Challenge retain AfCON title after beating Morocco in the finals
Ghana’s Amputee national team, the Black Challenge, has triumphed in the Amputee Africa Cup of Nations (AfCON) by defeating Morocco 2-1 in the finals held in Cairo, Egypt.
The team initially conceded a goal, but Mohammed Mubarak equalized with a penalty.
The match featured intense, end-to-end action, with Ghana’s goalkeeper making outstanding saves to maintain the tie.
After a goalless regulation time, the game proceeded into extra time.
Mubarak scored again, giving Ghana the lead for the first time in the match.
The Black Challenge maintained this advantage, securing the trophy at the end of extra time.
This victory in Cairo marks Ghana's successful defense of their title, having previously won the last edition in Tanzania.
Additionally, this win guarantees Ghana a spot in the 2026 World Amputee Football World Cup in Panama.
Over the past three years, the Black Challenge has claimed three trophies: two AfCON titles and the Africa Paralympic Football trophy in Ghana.
