Black Queens head coach Kim Lars Björkegren is expected to name his final 23-player squad for the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) on July 1, as the team continues intensive preparations in Morocco ahead of the tournament’s kickoff on July 5.

Ghana’s senior women’s national team is currently based in North Africa, where they are sharpening their tactics and building momentum for their return to the continental stage after a six-year absence.

The Queens arrived in Morocco after a successful series of warm-up matches, including a dominant 3-1 win over Malawi last Saturday.

Star forward Doris Boaduwaa was the standout performer, netting a sensational hat-trick to secure victory in the first of three scheduled friendlies.

The team is set to face Benin later today at the Ziaida Complex in Benslimane before wrapping up their preparatory campaign with a high-profile encounter against rivals Nigeria on Sunday.

Coach Björkegren is expected to use the final two friendlies to assess player performances and solidify his final selections for the tournament.

Drawn into a challenging Group C, the Black Queens will face defending champions South Africa, Mali, and Tanzania, as they aim to make a strong statement in their WAFCON comeback.
