Commey steps up preparations against Lopez
International Boxing Federation (IBF) Lightweight champion, Richard Oblitey Commey is taking no chances in the early Sunday morning’s bout with Teofimo Lopez as he steps up his training.
According to him, the fight with the undefeated Lopez (14 fights and 11 by knockout) is ‘one hell’ of a fight that needed to be taken with keen interest.
The hard-hitting Ghanaian fighter is scheduled to make his mandatory title defence against Lopez at the Madison Square Garden in New York, USA on the undercard of Terrence Crawford- Egidijus Kavaliauskas welterweight Clash.
“I thank Top Arum for getting this deal. I’m ready to retain my title….there is no way I will let this title go no way”, Oblitey Commey said.
Richard Commey has fought 31 times, won 29 with 26 by knockout and two losses.
On the other hand, Teófimo Andrés López Rivera is a Honduran-American professional boxer in the lightweight division. He competed in the men's lightweight event at the 2016 Summer Olympics, representing Honduras.
