GPL: Ashgold win, maintain lead
League leaders Ashanti Gold continued their lead at the summit of the Ghana Premier League when they defeated Dreams FC 1-0 at the Obuasi Len Clay Sports Stadium Wednesday.
They now have 21 points from eleven matches.
An unfortunate own goal from central defender Abdulai Ibrahim was all Ashgold needed to run away with a victory.
Second-placed Asante Kotoko lost to Aduana Stars 1-0 in injury time at the Nana Agyemang Badu Park at Dormaa Ahenkro.
Aduana are now joint-second with 20 points.
It was a match characterised with ‘juju’ as the two teams played with 10 men apiece in the greater part of the first half.
In-form Hearts of Oak also drew with Karela United at Tarkwa.
But Medeama SC recovered from their shocked defeat to Elmina Sharks over the weekend to register a 2-1 victory over Inter Allies in Accra.
Kofi Babil and Prince Opoku Agyemang got the two goals while the league’s leading marksman Victorien Adebayor got the consolation goal.
