I can’t explain why we fielded 10 players – Maxwell Konadu
Coach of Kumasi Asante Kotoko, Maxwell Konadu, says he cannot explain why he fielded 10 players in the first half of their Ghana Premier League clash with Aduana Stars on Wednesday.
The match between Kotoko and Aduana Stars at Dormaa Ahenkro was characterised by superstition leading to the two teams playing with 10 men in the greater part of the first-half.
Their action has attracted wild criticisms and condemnation from a cross-section of football-loving Ghanaians.
They are shocked that a team like Asante Kotoko will be behaving this way in this 21st century.
But Maxwell Konadu said: “I can't explain”.
The two teams’ antics delayed kick-off and went on till the end of the first-half as neither side wanted to be first to send on their 11th man.
Eleven players, however, entered the pitch at the beginning of the second-half.
The match ended 1-0 in favour of Aduana Stars.
