I heard a voice telling me ‘Come home’ – Kevin-Prince Boateng recounts how he became Christian, was baptised, healed

Star midfielder and forward Kevin-Prince Boateng has revealed he has become Christian.
He said this on the VIBE with FIVE podcast hosted.
“…the only thing that saved me – what saves me right now – and given me peace and happiness and everything – I want to show you guys: Jesus is King,” Kevin-Prince joyous said, opening his jacket to expose the t-shirt he had under.
The white t-shirt bore the words: Jesus is Lord. John 14:6.
The former Tottenham Hotspur player stressed that knowing this “totally changed my life”.
Host Rio Ferdinand asked him how he was introduced to Christianity.
In answering, Boateng recalled he grew up in a Muslim community in Germany with “Turkish, Arabs – because the immigration of Turkish and Arabs in Berlin is high”. He said despite this, he did not become “really religious”. He only “believed in a higher power”.
He noted his older brother is a Muslim, admitting he was “confronted” with the Islamic faith.
“I got introduced to Jesus five years ago,” he finally revealed. “This is where someone put the seed inside of me. Then I got curious, then I left it again, and I said: ‘No, I don’t care’.”
His backsliding was later challenged at Hertha BSC where “Dodi Lukebakio – the guy who just signed for Sevilla – he start[ed] talking to me about Jesus, and the Bible and everything”.
Like before, the former Black Stars player said, his interest was piqued again, and he started entertaining the conversations, asking questions and showing cynicism at times.
Things would take a drastic turn when he “went to the Women’s World Cup in Sydney”.
“This is where it hit me – a person prayed for me, and this was the first time I felt something inside of my body. It was impossible to explain,” Boateng remarked sombrely.
Thereafter, the former AC Milan player said he “had an encounter” that highlighted how important it is “to leave your pride and all the sinning – what we did – because at the end it was all sinning. What we do – going out drinking, whatever.”
The football star noted he made the commitment and “left it all in the past” and fell on his knees “and prayed to the Lord,” at which time he “was crying like crazy”.
According to Kevin-Prince Boateng, it was at this point that he had his “testimony” which was a supernatural encounter with the Lord: “I heard a voice telling me: ‘Come home’.”
He admitted how “difficult” it is to explain the experience to others, and how “two months ago” he would have called anyone who predicted this “crazy”.
Furthermore, the German-born Ghanaian revealed he experienced a tangible evidence of his new found faith.
Before he was baptised, he explained, “I had so much pain in my knee,” but right after the Christian ritual, “I went for a jog. I could run, like, it’s crazy.”
The sports celebrity emphasised he is not into proselytising or forcing his new faith on people.
All he knows, he noted, “is just the peace I’m feeling, the love I received and the love I can give, it’s just overwhelming”.
In conclusion the 36-year-old said if he had had this when he went to AC Monza, he “wouldn’t [have] go[ne] through depression and all that” because of what “reading the Bible…” has done for him.
