Inaki Williams celebrates 80th La Liga goal in Athletic Bilbao's victory over Villarreal
Inaki Williams marked a significant career achievement this weekend, scoring his 80th La Liga goal as Athletic Bilbao triumphed 2-0 over Villarreal.
The Ghanaian forward found the net in the 58th minute to double his side's lead, following an early strike from Aitor Paredes in the 15th minute.
Paredes capitalised on a precise pass from Inigo Ruiz de Galarreta, giving Bilbao the perfect start.
Villarreal thought they had levelled the score in the 22nd minute with a goal from Pape Gueye, but a VAR review ruled it out, leaving the visitors frustrated.
Athletic Bilbao went into the break with a 1-0 lead and came out stronger after the interval. Williams sealed the win with his fourth goal of the season, a strike that not only secured the three points but also marked his 80th goal in the Spanish top flight.
This milestone comes just days after Williams celebrated his 10th anniversary at the club.
With this victory, Williams has contributed to eight goals in 16 league appearances this season, continuing to play a crucial role in Ernesto Valverde's squad.
