It's 'difficult' adapting to local league – Emmanuel Agyemang Badu

Veteran midfielder for Accra Great Olympics Emmanuel Agyemang Badu has opened up on adapting to the demands of the 2022/23 betPawa Premier League, as it has made a return following the break during the 2022 World Cup.
Agyemang-Badu returned to the league after an illustrious career mainly in the Italian Serie A for Udinese and Hellas Verona.
He played at the 2014 World Cup with the Black Stars after winning the FIFA Under-20 World Cup with the Black Satellites in 2009 Egypt.
Badu bagged his debut title with new side Accra Great Olympics after the Wonder Club emerged winners of the GHALCA G6 Tournament organised by the Ghana League Clubs Association prior to the start of the 2022/23 premier league season.
Speaking on the Class Morning Show regarding his return to the domestic scene, the u-20 World Cup winner mentioned the lack of good pitches at some venues as a major contributing factor to his slow adjustment to the local league.
“Well, it is difficult adapting to the premier league. When we started the GHALCA Top 6, I was struggling with the pitches and also sometimes the weather and the physicality of the league.
“After the G6, after three games, gradually I was adapting to the league and unfortunately the league had to go on recess because of the court injunction.
“I am still adapting. Most of the games have been played in Accra. For some other venues, the pitches are not in a good state and we have made several complaints about it,” he bemoaned.
Mr Badu concluded by expressing hope of adjusting to the local league “so I can help my club Great Olympics in the betPawa Premier League.”
Accra Great Olympics takes on league leaders Aduana Stars at the Cape Coast Sports Stadium later today, Tuesday, December 20, 2022, at 3 p.m.
The Dade Boys under Gaffer Yaw Preko are currently unbeaten this term on home soil, boasting one of the best home records in the Ghana Premier League.
