Odartey Lamptey wins back East Legon mansion from ex-wife
An Accra High Court has granted ex-Black Stars player Odartey Lamptey custody of his East Legon mansion.
This is a reversal of an earlier decision by the court, granting the house to Mr Lamptey’s ex-wife in their ugly divorce settlement.
The ex-Ghanaian midfielder’s ex-wife dragged him to court to claim custody of the house following their divorce although Mr Lamptey had given her custody of a five-bedroom house at Dome.
The woman insisted she wanted the East Legon house and not the five-bedroom Dome house.
Mr Lamptey and Gloria Lamptey had an ugly divorce in 2013 after DNA results revealed that he was not the biological father of her three children after years of marriage.
Mr Lamptey now has two children with his new wife, actress Ruweida Yakubu, thus, dispelling claims of impotency.
During his career, he played as a striker from 1990 until 2008 notably for Anderlecht, Aston Villa, PSV Eindhoven, Coventry City and the Ghana national football team.
Mr Lamptey first began to attract global attention in 1991 when he led Ghana’s Black Starlets to win the 1991 FIFA U-17 World Championship.
He won the FIFA Best Player of the tournament, – the Golden Ball award in that competition.
