Otto Addo names 26-man squad for 2025 AFCON qualifiers against Angola and Niger
Black Stars head coach Otto Addo has unveiled his 26-man squad for the upcoming 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers against Angola and Niger, scheduled for early next month.
The senior national team, which last played in June and secured back-to-back victories over Mali and the Central African Republic in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers, will begin preparations for the AFCON qualifiers this week.
Players are expected to report to camp by the end of this week or early next week, as the qualifiers will be spread over the next three international windows.
Coach Addo’s squad features several familiar faces, including Thomas Partey, Kudus Mohammed, Jordan Ayew, Lawrence Ati-Zigi, and Abdul Fatawu Issahaku.
The squad also welcomes back Inaki Williams and Majeed Ashimeru, who missed the previous matches.
Frederick Asare of Asante Kotoko is the sole home-based player included in the line-up.
However, team captain Andre Ayew might be absent again as he continues his search for a new club.
The Black Stars will kick off their 2025 AFCON qualifying campaign against Angola on Thursday, September 5, at the Baba Yara Stadium, followed by a match against Niger four days later.
The team will be looking to start strong as they aim to secure a place in the continental tournament.
