Ronaldo agrees pay cut to help Juventus
Giorgio Chiellini spoke with his Juventus teammates and reached an agreement for the players to accept a pay cut, including Cristiano Ronaldo who will lower his salary by €3.8m.
The Bianconeri team and staff have finished their period of self-isolation and while Continassa is still closed, the players have continued to train at home.
Tuttosport report that club captain Chiellini, who remains at the J Hotel, made a video call to all the senior members of the team, after speaking with President Andrea Agnelli and director Fabio Paratici.
Speaking with the senior members of the team first, namely Gigi Buffon, Leonardo Bonucci and Cristiano Ronaldo, Chiellini received enough backing to go to his other teammates and ask them to accept a pay cut during the Coronavirus outbreak in Italy.
Talks and discussions have not yet ended – mainly because the options on the table are different – but in general all players seemed to have agreed to cut their wages in this time of crisis where training and games have come to a halt.
The cut is expected to be proportional and consequently, certain players will stand to lose more of their salary, including Cristiano Ronaldo who will cut his salary by €3.8m net
