GFZA CEO leads management team on working visit to Bright Industrial Park Enterprises in Afienya
The Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Free Zones Authority (GFZA), Mary Awusi, on February 25, 2026, led a management delegation on a working visit to three Free Zones Enterprises operating within the Bright Industrial Park in Afienya.
The visit formed part of the Authority’s ongoing engagement with licensed enterprises to strengthen collaboration, assess operational performance and address challenges confronting companies within the Free Zones enclave.
The team’s first stop was Zema New Energy Ghana Limited, Ghana’s first high-efficiency photovoltaic cell factory.
The company produces monocrystalline TOPCon solar cells and is contributing to renewable energy development and industrial growth.
Management disclosed that the firm, which has been operational for about a year, employs over 300 workers and plans to operate 24-hours a day once it reaches full production capacity.
The delegation next visited Jiudine Ghana Corporation Limited, a garment manufacturing company producing ready-made apparel for the United States and European markets.
Discussions centred on production capacity, export performance, workforce development and job creation.
The company currently employs about 450 people in its first year of operation and exports all of its products.
The final stop was Qian Feng International Corporation Limited, a cap manufacturing company serving fashion, sports and corporate branding markets.
Management showcased its production processes, quality control systems and expansion plans aimed at increasing exports and global competitiveness.
After two years of operation, the company employs over 900 workers and intends to expand its workforce to 3,500 by 2028, while maintaining a 100 per cent export orientation.
Dr. Awusi expressed satisfaction with the performance of the three companies, commending their contributions to industrialisation and employment creation.
She encouraged management to explore further expansion opportunities to boost job creation and reaffirmed the Authority’s commitment to supporting their growth.
She also reminded the enterprises to adhere strictly to the regulatory requirements of the Free Zones Authority.
The CEO noted that the working visit provided valuable insight into operational challenges facing the companies and created an opportunity to discuss practical solutions in line with the Authority’s regulatory mandate.
Dr. Awusi was accompanied by Dr. Patience Agbleze Acorlor, Director for Corporate Affairs, PR and Aftercare; Hajia Hanatu Abubakar, Director for Administration; Mrs. Joyce Amapps, Director for Monitoring; Mr. Michael Larbi, Head of Compliance; Mr. Benjamin Obeng, Head of Estate and Zones; and other officers of the Authority.
