A/R: Missing GAF helicopter crashes and burns in Adansi Akrofuom, at least four feared dead

In a tragic incident, a helicopter has burned beyond recognition after it crashed into a tree at Adansi Akrofuom, Ashanti Region.
This happened today, Wednesday, August 6, 2025.
The helicopter took off from Accra for Obuasi, as per usual on Wednesdays, but this morning went plummeted due to causes that are at the moment mysterious.
"After the crash, everything went silent. Residents who rushed to the scene found the helicopter in flames," Matthew Baah, Assembly Member for the area, told Adom FM.
He said he was in the farm when he received a distress call concerning the accident. Additionally, he suggested poor weather conditions may have contributed to the tragedy.
Eyewitnesses mentioned four unidentified people had burned to death, following the crash.

Meanwhile, the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) earlier announced a Z9 military helicopter, carrying eight people, had gone off radar during a routine flight from Accra to Obuasi, sparking an urgent search and rescue operation by aviation and security authorities.
According to an official statement issued by Captain Veronica Adzo Arhin, Acting Director-General of Public Relations, the aircraft took off from Accra at exactly 9:12 AM today but lost communication with air traffic control shortly after.
The helicopter had three crew members and five passengers on board at the time of departure.
No contact has been re-established with the aircraft, and its current location remains unknown.
“The Ghana Armed Forces, in coordination with the relevant aviation authorities, has launched a full-scale operation to locate the aircraft and ensure the safety of all persons on board,” the statement noted.
