E/R: GWCL completes repairs on 42-inch Kpong transmission line, water supply gradually restored
Ghana Water Company Limited (GWCL) has announced the successful completion of repair works on the burst 42-inch transmission line at Kpong, Eastern Region.
According to the company, the repairs were concluded at 20:00 GMT on Tuesday, January 20, 2026.
Following the completion, production and pumping to the Tema Booster Station commenced at 21:00 GMT the same evening.
As a result, water supply to Tema, New Town, Kpone, and surrounding communities began at 6:00 a.m. on Wednesday, January 21, 2026.
GWCL assured customers that water supply will continue to stabilise progressively across all affected areas as pumping operations normalise.
Management expressed appreciation to the public for their patience and cooperation during the repair period and apologised for the inconvenience caused by the disruption.
The company added that further updates will be communicated as the situation develops.
