Ashanti NPP clears 20 aspirants for regional executive positions
Twenty aspirants have been cleared to contest six positions in the upcoming Ashanti Regional executive elections of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
The candidates successfully passed the vetting process conducted by the party’s vetting committee today at the Hasta Hotel in Kumasi.
The cleared contestants face a highly competitive field across several key portfolios.
The race for the First Vice Chairman, Youth Organiser, and Nasara Coordinator each feature four candidates while the contests for Second Vice Chairman and Treasurer have drawn three aspirants each.
The Communication Officer position will be a head-to-head contest between two candidates.
The vetting process is scheduled to resume tomorrow with the committee screening the remaining 15 aspirants eyeing the final five executive positions.
Portfolios up for vetting tomorrow include the Regional Chairman, Secretary, Deputy Secretary, Organiser and Women’s Organiser.
Rita Talata Asobayire, Chairperson of the Vetting Committee, confirmed the day's successful proceedings and reiterated that all necessary arrangements are in place to conclude the exercise.
Speaking to Classfmonline after being cleared by the committee were some of the aspirants including the Second Vice Chairperson candidate, Hajia Zainab Sallaw, Amofa Jantuah and Akwasi Nti who are both vying for the First Vice Chairman position.
