Ayawaso West Wuogon: John Dumelo is hopeful to retain parliamentary seat
Member of Parliament for Ayawaso West Wuogon, John Dumelo, has expressed confidence in his ability to retain his parliamentary seat in the next general election, stating that he remains optimistic despite growing interest from potential challengers.
Speaking to the media at Parliament on the prospect of the 2028 parliamentary contest, Dumelo said Ghana's democratic system allows every eligible individual the right to contest elections and welcomed anyone interested in challenging him.
He maintained that he is not under pressure from the increasing number of aspirants reportedly eyeing his seat.
The lawmaker noted that his focus remains on delivering on his campaign promises and serving the people of Ayawaso West Wuogon. According to him, his performance in office will ultimately determine whether constituents renew his mandate.
Dumelo's comments come amid reports that several members of the opposition are positioning themselves to contest the constituency in the next parliamentary election. However, the MP insisted that he is confident the electorate will assess his work fairly and reward him with another term in office.
