Political analyst Dr Kwame Asah-Asante Osae-Kwapong has called for greater accountability among political leaders, arguing that officers of the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) should not bear sole responsibility for controversial decisions and actions undertaken by the institution.

According to him, public criticism and scrutiny should extend beyond EOCO officials to include the political authorities and policymakers who provide direction and oversight for the anti-corruption agency.

Speaking to Joy News on the issue, Dr Osae-Kwapong noted that institutions such as EOCO operate within a broader political and administrative framework, making it important to hold those at the top accountable for decisions that attract public concern or controversy.

He argued that focusing criticism exclusively on operational officers risks ignoring the role of political leadership in shaping institutional priorities and actions.

The political analyst stressed the need for transparency and accountability at all levels of governance, particularly in matters involving state institutions tasked with fighting economic and organised crime.
