Almost one million customers’ve merged Ghana cards with their SSNIT numbers

The Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT), has revealed that close to one million (958,423) of its members have successfully had their Ghana card numbers merged with their SSNIT numbers as of October 31, 2021.
According to SSNIT, all a customer needs to do to have his or her Ghana card merged with his or her SSNIT is to simply dial *711*9#, visit the SSNIT website to get started or walk into any of the offices to be assisted by officers to do the merger.
The Director-General of SSNIT, Dr. John Ofori-Tenkorang made this disclosure at this year’s Employers Breakfast meeting held in Accra.
He explained that this is a drive to provide convenience and great service to clients.
He said this merger will mean that members will only have to use one card for transactions with the Trust.
“And for you as employers, it means that from January 2022, you will have to process your Contribution Reports using the NIA numbers of your workers,” he said.
He appealed to employers to ensure that all their employees comply with the requirement to merge their numbers before the 31st December 2021 deadline.
He noted that the innovation will make it easier for employers to discharge their obligations adding that the latest addition was the introduction of Saturday service.
“We now open some of our branches on Saturdays for even more convenience. You also have the portal for validation of Contribution Reports and our partner banks for payment of contributions,” Dr Ofori-Tenkorang stated.
He assured that come early next year, the Trust will deploy a bespoke in-house developed technology platform that will enhance even further, the services it provides.
According to him, the new platform, which is currently being piloted, will add the use of Mobile Money and direct bank debit to the available means of paying contributions.
“This means you can validate Contributions Reports and pay without leaving your office. I entreat you to embrace this new and user-friendly platform for processing Contribution Reports, payment of contributions, and registration when the time comes,” he added
