Bank of Ghana maintains policy rate at 28%

The Policy Rate has been maintained at 28 per cent, by the Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) of the Bank of Ghana (BoG).
Dr Johnson Asiama, the Governor of the Bank of Ghana, made this known today, Friday, May 23, 2025, during the 124th MPC press briefing in Accra.
Inflation
Headline inflation had declined consecutively in the first four months of the year, Dr Asiama noted. He explaned this was driven by both food and non-food inflation.
Cedi
Dr Asiama observed the local currency had rebounded strongly against major trading currencies like the dollar.
A tight monetary stance, ongoing fiscal consolidation, record reserve accumulation, and strict enforcement of the forex market rules, he said, were behind the trend.
