The Minister for Finance, Dr Cassiel Ato Forson, has inaugurated the newly constituted Board of the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA), describing the occasion as “a defining moment” in the country’s pursuit of revenue excellence.

The brief but symbolic ceremony marked the beginning of what government officials hope will be a new era of accountability, innovation, and improved domestic revenue mobilisation.

The Board, chaired by Kweku Ricketts-Hagan, comprises individuals with proven expertise across finance, governance, and public administration.

In his remarks, Dr Forson expressed confidence in the Board’s ability to lead transformative reforms within the GRA and to ensure that revenue collection processes become more efficient and transparent. He urged the members to remain focused, collaborative, and committed to public service.

“The challenges ahead are not insurmountable,” Dr Forson noted. “With a Board of this calibre, I am confident that Ghana can achieve a more robust and sustainable revenue system that supports our development agenda.”

He added that strengthening the GRA’s institutional capacity and modernising its operations will be key pillars of this transformation effort.

Chairman Ricketts-Hagan, in his acceptance speech, thanked the Minister for the trust placed in the Board and pledged to deliver on its mandate with integrity and diligence.

He emphasised the importance of public trust in the GRA’s work and called for cooperation among stakeholders to widen the tax net and promote a culture of voluntary compliance.
