GPRTU, taxi drivers get 'Tap and Go' Taxi App

In a collaborative effort between the Ghana Private Road Transport Union (GPRTU) and the Office of the Vice President, a new digital taxi service called Tap and Go has been launched in Accra.
The application, similar to well-established taxi services like Uber, Yango, and Bolt, is currently in a pilot phase in selected areas of Accra, including the Airport, East Legon, the University of Ghana, Circle/Kaneshie, and Dansoman.
The full nationwide rollout is expected to occur next year.
Speaking at the launch, Nana Nimako Bresiamah, the National Chairman of the GPRTU, expressed gratitude to Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia for addressing the concerns of taxi drivers who were losing business to international online taxi services.
The Tap and Go App is seen as a technological advancement to help local taxi drivers compete effectively in the digital age.
