Mr Nii Amasah Namoale, Ambassador of the Republic of Ghana, has reaffirmed Ghana’s commitment to African unity, cooperation, and shared development priorities at a meeting of the Group of African Heads of Mission held in San Marco on 23 June 2026.

Delivering his welcome remarks, the ambassador said Ghana was honoured to host the meeting, describing it as an opportunity to strengthen diplomatic bonds, exchange views on common interests, and advance collective African objectives.

He noted that since assuming duty in September 2025, his engagements with fellow diplomats had reinforced his view that the African Group remains one of the most cohesive regional blocs within the international diplomatic community.

Ambassador Namoale highlighted the guiding principles of the group, including unity, solidarity, mutual respect, cooperation, and the pursuit of common positions on issues affecting the continent. He said these principles remain vital in navigating an evolving global environment and ensuring Africa’s voice is heard on the international stage.

He expressed Ghana’s gratitude to African countries and members of the African Union for their support towards Ghana’s initiative at the United Nations on what he described as the historical injustice of the trafficking and enslavement of Africans, which led to the adoption of a related resolution recognising such acts as crimes against humanity.

He added that Ghana, under President John Dramani Mahama, hosted a High-Level Consultative Conference from 17 to 19 June 2026 to discuss next steps on implementing the resolution, including reparative dialogue, remembrance, and international cooperation.

The ambassador also outlined key domestic policy initiatives, including the “Big Push” infrastructure programme aimed at expanding roads, bridges, healthcare, education, and energy infrastructure. He also referenced the government’s 24-Hour Economy Programme, which seeks to boost productivity, industrialisation, and job creation through round-the-clock economic activity where feasible.

He further noted Ghana’s endorsement of President Mahama as the country’s candidate for the Chairpersonship of the African Union Commission, describing it as a reflection of confidence in his commitment to Pan-Africanism, governance, and regional integration.

Ambassador Namoale reiterated Ghana’s investment message, stating that the country remains open for business and is committed to creating an enabling environment for trade, investment, and innovation.

He announced that the Embassy of Ghana, in collaboration with the Ghana Investment Promotion Centre (GIPC), will host the 2026 Investing in Ghana Webinar Series on 12 August 2026 to showcase investment opportunities in the country.

He also extended goodwill to African nations participating in the ongoing FIFA World Cup, praising their performances and describing their participation as a source of continental pride and inspiration.

The meeting concluded with a call for continued unity and cooperation among African states, with the Ambassador inviting delegates to take advantage of Ghana’s hospitality and engage in constructive dialogue.
