In a significant move ahead of the new fiscal year, the Government of Ghana and Organised Labour have formally agreed to a 9% across-the-board increase in the Base Pay on the Single Spine Salary Structure (SSSS) for 2026.

The agreement, signed on November 9, 2025, by the Fair Wages and Salaries Commission (FWSC) and the Ministry of Finance on behalf of the government, concludes negotiations held under the Public Services Joint Standing Negotiating Committee (PSJSNC).

The key term of the pact ensures that all public service workers under the SSSS will receive a 9% boost in their base pay, effective from January to December 2026.

Beyond the immediate salary adjustment, the agreement includes two critical commitments from the government. Firstly, it pledges to continue engagement with labour unions on other outstanding conditions of service.

Secondly, both parties have agreed to hold regular discussions on the broader management of the national economy.

The signing ceremony was witnessed by high-profile officials, including the Hon. Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson (MP), Minister for Finance, and Bro. Joshua Ansah, Secretary General of Trades Union Congress(TUC)
