Herbert Krapa is new ECG Board Chairman
President Akufo-Addo has appointed Herbert Krapa, the Deputy Minister for Energy, as the new Chairman of the Board of Directors for the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG).
This decision follows the resignation of Keli Gadzekpo, who has chaired the national electricity company since 2017.
Mr Gadzekpo tendered his resignation in a letter addressed to President Akufo-Addo, effective from Tuesday, 9th April 2024.
Mr. Krapa, a lawyer, will retain his position as Deputy Minister for Energy also.
His appointment, communicated through a letter to his minister, Dr. Matthew Prempeh, MP, comes at a critical juncture as the nation grapples with intermittent power supply disruptions.
Mr Krapa's mandate extends beyond mere leadership of the board; he is tasked with providing guidance to the Managing Director of ECG and his team while ensuring seamless coordination among various agencies within the power sector.
The ultimate goal is to guarantee stable and reliable electricity supply to consumers across Ghana.
