NIB MD champions community-led development at Kwahu Business Forum

At the Kwahu Business Forum held at the Mpraeso Social Centre in the Eastern Region, Chief Dr. Doliwura Zakaria, Managing Director (MD) of the National Investment Bank PLC (NIB), reaffirmed the bank’s dedication to fostering inclusive, community-driven development nationwide.
The forum convened industry leaders, entrepreneurs, policymakers, and development partners to discuss strategies for economic transformation.
Dr. Zakaria unveiled NIB’s plan to replicate its successful equity model from the Accra Market across all 261 Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Assemblies (MMDAs) in Ghana.
This initiative aims to position local governments as equity stakeholders in market management, enhancing operational efficiency, infrastructure, and revenue streams without overburdening government budgets.
Markets are economic nerve centres in our communities. When well-managed, they can transform livelihoods, empower SMEs, and create sustainable jobs,” Dr. Zakaria emphasised.
The forum, themed “The Future of Business: The Role of the Financial Sector,” is part of a broader initiative led by President John Dramani Mahama to promote entrepreneurship and support the growth of small and medium enterprises (SMEs) across Ghana.
