Ofosu Ampofo chairs 11-member COCOBOD board

The Government of Ghana has inaugurated a new 11-member Board of Directors for the Ghana Cocoa Board (COCOBOD), with Dr. Samuel Ofosu Ampofo appointed as the Chairman.
The inauguration ceremony, held in Accra, marks the beginning of a new chapter for COCOBOD as it navigates the evolving challenges and opportunities in Ghana’s cocoa sector.
The newly constituted board is expected to provide strategic direction and oversight to ensure the sustainability and growth of the cocoa industry, a vital pillar of the national economy.
In his remarks, Dr. Ofosu Ampofo expressed appreciation for the confidence reposed in him and the board members, pledging their commitment to advancing the interests of cocoa farmers and stakeholders across the value chain.
“We are fully aware of the enormous responsibility placed on our shoulders, and we will work diligently to protect and enhance Ghana’s global leadership in cocoa production,” he said.
The board’s mandate includes enhancing farmer welfare, improving productivity, promoting value addition, and ensuring sustainable practices in cocoa farming.
COCOBOD plays a central role in regulating and supporting Ghana’s cocoa industry, which remains a major contributor to export earnings and rural livelihoods.
The new board includes key figures such as the Minister for Finance, Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson; Governor of the Bank of Ghana, Dr. Johnson Asiama; Chief Executive Randy Abbey; Alhaji Alhassan Kobina Ghansah; Vincent Oppong Asamoah; Deputy Minister for Trade, Samson Ahi; Deputy Minister for Agriculture, John Dumelo; Alhaji Alhassan Bukari; Nana Charles Owusu and Eric Turkson
