Vote against Bawumia for moving Ghana's debt to GHS 760 billion -Mahama tells Ghanaians

Mr John Mahama, the flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has voiced strong concerns regarding Ghana’s escalating public debt under the leadership of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
During a mini durbar in Wicheau, part of his campaign tour in the Upper West Region, he highlighted that the country's current public debt stands at GHS 760 billion, which represents over 70 percent of the country’s GDP. This figure reflects a 22 percent increase, largely attributed to the depreciation of the Cedi and new disbursements from creditors.
Mr Mahama emphasized that this rising debt level raises serious questions about the NPP’s economic management and its implications for Ghana’s financial stability headed by Dr Mahamadu Bawumia.
He warned that high debt can significantly impede economic growth and development.
By addressing this issue, Mr Mahama aims to advocate for more prudent economic policies and responsible management of public finances, shedding light on the potential long-term consequences for both the economy and the citizens of Ghana.
