Zambian president, Jospong collaborate to revolutionise waste sector

The Zambian President, H.E. Hakainde Hichilema, has assured the Executive Chairman of the Jospong Group of Companies (JGC) of his readiness to unlock all rigidities in Zambia to allow Jospong's conglomerate to revolutionise the waste and technology sectors, matching the speed of Ghana.
He expressed satisfaction with what Ghana has achieved so far through Jospong in creating value from the waste menace.
President Hichilema addressed the leaders of the Jospong Group of Companies during a working visit to Ghana at the Accra Compost and Recycling Plant (ACARP) in Accra.
He stated that African leaders have shifted their focus from political discourse to creating opportunities for African people, emphasising that it is their responsibility to build African businesses that generate jobs.
"We don't need you to persuade us to give you the opportunity to operate; it is our responsibility to build African businesses that will provide jobs for our people," he assured.
The President made it clear that he would immediately establish a committee at the Zambian Presidency to coordinate with the Jospong team and commence work urgently.
He stated that his government's electoral victory would be translated into tangible improvements in people's lives, underscoring the importance of African citizens choosing leaders who work for the greater benefit of the people.
Dr Joseph Siaw Agyepong, the Executive Chairman of the Jospong Group of Companies (JGC), received the entourage along with his wife, Mrs Adelaide Araba Agyepong, and key executives of the JGC.
He highlighted that organic waste constitutes 61% of African waste and emphasised the need to convert this waste component into fertiliser. The remaining waste components include plastics (14%), leather and glass (3%), textiles (2%), and e-waste (5%), among others, which Jospong addresses through its initiatives in Africa.
Dr Agyepong assured the Zambian President and his entourage of immediate action in establishing waste recycling plants and implementing mechanisms to tackle the waste menace in their cities.
The president was accompanied by the Zambian Ministers for Tourism, Hon Rodney Sikumba; Mines and Minerals, Hon Paul Kabuswe; Ghana's Ambassador to Zambia, and members of the diplomatic corps, among others.
The entourage toured the waste management facility to familiarise themselves with its operations.
