Amerado sees hope in Ghana music filling stadia worldwide, cites Black Sherif
Rapper and singer Amerado Burner has argued there was no shame in performing to very small audiences abroad.
Speaking to Nana Romeo on Okay FM, he said “it’s normal” to perform in living room’s and to audiences of 10.
He said purpose was more important than the number of people present at an event.
“We’re pushing an agenda. We’re pushing Ghana music. Also, you won’t get the same numbers you get locally when you go abroad,” he explained.
Amerado revealed he had solely performed to a crowd of more than 30,000, and this happened in Chicago, USA.
“The lowest audience was about eight people – in Dallas,” he added. “My uncle was part of this number.”
He explained the poor attendance was due to inadequate “communication,” which resulted from promoters planning the event impromptu, taking advantage of his visit to the United States at the time.
Notwithstanding the numbers, he said, he “felt very great”.
“I was okay. It does not matter where you stand [to perform]; purpose is the ultimate thing. It is eight today, tomorrow it’ll be 16 and it will multiply from there,” the Kwaku Ananse hitmaker stressed.
On filling stadia just as counterparts from Nigeria, he emphasised it was possible and would happen “as long as we have life – only death can stop it”.
He made a case for the quality of Ghana music.
“Ghana music is very enjoyable, and we have evolved even more now. See what Blacko and others are doing. What is impossible to us? We can do anything,” the multiple award-winning musician declared.
He spoke about his fondness for rapper Black Sherif and his music.
“There is nothing wrong in admitting that boy’s star power is exceptionally strong,” Amerado noted.
“I cannot speak about his magic or what’s behind his success – he’s the only one who knows. But he’s doing well for himself, and I am excited to see it.”
He revealed Sherif’s “voice and how he carries himself” was appealing to him.
“He is super talented, too,” he underlined, adding he was learning a lot from the Sacrifice hitmaker.
