The COVID-19 crisis has basically put the live music industry in a standstill ever since the virus was deemed a pandemic in mid-March.

As a result,  some of the world's biggest stars have since resorted to putting on virtual concerts as a way to stay in the spotlight, remain relevant, and give back to their fans and communities.

With a new solo album set to drop, and the coronavirus still wreaking havoc, Beyonce has decided to scrap plans for a 2021 world tour and join the ranks of artists that will perform through livestreams, according to The Sun. 

Wanting to stand out from the rest, Beyonce (born Beyoncé Giselle Knowles) wants to put her unique touch on the virtual experience, all while making it bigger and better for the fans. 

'Beyonce and her team are currently mapping out a plan to create a virtual live show to showcase her new music in 2021, now that she can't tour because of Covid,' said a source close to the pop superstar. 

Between her time in the wildly successful Destiny's Child and as a solo artist, the 24-time Grammy winner has been touring since the late 1990s, and was planning to hit the road again in 2021 before the pandemic took hold.

'Following the success she had with [2016 album] Lemonade, and the Disney film Black Is King, she started writing and recording feel-good tracks inspired by new artists like Dua Lipa and The Shindellas. She's ready to dance again,' added the insider. 

As she continues to put in the hard work on her new album, Beyonce also plans to promote it with 'a virtual show that fans can watch at home.' 

That source continued: 'She has made it clear she's prepared to pull out all the stops to make it a real spectacle.

The upcoming new record will be her first as a solo artist since Lemonade, which subsequently received widespread critical acclaim, and is widely considered the best of her career.  

Beyonce is considered among the world's best-selling recording artists, with more than 120 million records sold worldwide.   

Billie Eilish, Ariana Grande, Miley Cyrus, Lady Gaga and Kylie Minogue are among high-profile artists who have recently taken to the livestream venue, as well as such big-name rock groups such as Metallica and Puscifer.
