Juliet Ibrahim becomes first-ever President of Women in Film & Television Ghana
Movie star Juliet Ibrahim has become the inaugural President of Women in Film & Television (WIFT) Ghana.
On Facebook, she wrote about her appreciation for the position, noting it was a landmark for all African women especially those in the media and entertainment industries.
Juliet highlighted the organisation’s mission and her personal commitment to supporting new and established female creatives.
“I’m deeply honored to share that I have been appointed as the first-ever President of Women in Film and Television Ghana (WIFT Ghana) @wiftghana a monumental step forward for our creative community,” she said.
“This milestone is not just a personal achievement, but a powerful moment for all women across Ghana’s and Africa’s film, TV, and digital media industries who continue to break barriers, amplify stories, and reshape narratives both in front of and behind the camera.”
She explained, “WIFT Ghana proudly joins the global network of Women in Film & Television International (WIFTI) and is affiliated with WIFT Africa, strengthening our ties across continents while remaining rooted in our local mission: Empower women, Create opportunities, and Champion inclusion and visibility.”
“As President, I’m committed to fostering collaboration, mentorship, and long-term impact for emerging and established female creatives, with a special focus on uplifting youth, storytellers, and innovators across all regions,” Juliet assured.
She declared, in conclusion, “The future is female and the spotlight is ours.”
WIFT
Women in Film & Television (WIFT) is a global network of non-profit membership chapters comprising over 40 Women in Film chapters worldwide with over 10,000 members, dedicated to advancing professional development and achievement for women working in all areas of film, video, and other screen-based media. Founded in 1973 in Los Angeles by Tichi Wilkerson Kassel, the organisation grew quickly worldwide, hosting its first Women in Film and Television International World Summit in New York City in September 1997.
WIFT Ghana WIFT Ghana is a chapter branch of WIFT (Women In Film and Television International Organisation) aimed at empowering Ghanaian women in film, television, and all screen-media-based activities through networking, capacity building, and mentorship.
