Black Sherif releases visuals for his personal favourite from debut album

Ghanaian singer-songwriter and rapper Black Sherif

Seven months ago, Ghanaian music star Black Sherif appeared on Accra-based Peace FM's morning show.

During the hearty conversation, he performed his 45 hit, after which his host, Kwame Sefa Kayi, asked what song of his was his personal favourite.

"Right now, right now, my favourite is Oil in My Head," he answered. "Before Oil In My Head, Ankonam was my favourite."

Today, Thursday, June 15, 2023, the singer-songwriter and rapper has released the official visuals for the Oil in My Head piece, track 2 on his critically acclaimed debut album titled The Villain I Never Was.

"Oil in my head, everything I touch is blessed, all I see is blessings, and no man can stop this," the RBA/EMPIRE signee nicknamed Kwaku Rasta chants on the song's chorus with the verve of a Reggae preacher.

For the uncomplicated visuals, the artful and serene Nubuke Foundation art gallery in East Legon, Accra, is mostly utilised as venue.

Libyan-born Ghanaian high fashion model and actress Briggite Appiah is also seen delicately attending to Sherif's beautiful twist buns while she anoints his head with oil – she is in a striking blue gown with her head gorgeously pearled.

The video also puts the song to celebratory use and highlights Sherif's resilience and hardwork.

It shows moments from his past as a struggling artiste striving for a shot at fame and success. The cuts include an audition to participate in MTN's Hitmaker series, his historical Artiste of the Year win at the 2023 Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMAs) and then shows five independent versions of the artiste at a dining table.

"I get up and come for more," he sings to complement the point of the images.

At yet another meaningful part, silverware on the dining table transforms into goldware.

Finally, towards the end of the clip, the sensational performer is captured levitating, approaching where birds belong and what seems like a seagull flies past.
