CMG's 'Country Christmas' goes off with a bang | Country music reality show launched

Class Media Group (CMG) has held its festival of lessons and carols.
This year's festival themed: ‘Country Christmas’ was held at the forecourt of CMG, 3rd Dade Walk, Kweku Baako Street, Labone, Accra, Friday, 23 December 2022.
It was attended by staff, listeners and viewers of CMG's radio and TV stations in Accra.
Patrons showed up dressed like Cowboys and Cowgirls, mostly blue jeans, cowboy boots, shirts and hats.
They were treated to Country Christmas music, spoken word poetry, karaoke and the Country Game Wheel consisting of Pick & Act, Truth/Dare, Riddles, Who Sang It and many more.
There was also a short word of exhortation and a candlelight segment led by on-air personality and pastor KK Williams.
The Country on Class Music Reality Show was launched.
The event, which will be hosted on Class 91.3 FM by Desmond Lamptey, alias the Smooth Operator, will over the next couple of weeks discover and provide a platform for country music singers and lovers to enjoy an array of country music while nurturing talents.
Launching the show, Head of Compliance and Transport at CMG, Lydia Gifty Hagan, indicated the Country on Class reality show will be held quarterly.
She was joined by the Smooth Operator, Head of Finance/Client Service Frank Asare and Group Operations Officer Theodore Edwards to declare the reality show duly launched.
Attendees were treated to dinner, with lots to eat and drink.
Patrons were appreciated on the night with the best dressed Country Cowgirl and Country Cowboy walking home with gifts among others.
Tommy Annan-Forson was recognised as the King of Country Music, having popularised the genre during his legendary and awarded work at the Accra-based Ghana Broadcasting Cooperation (GBC) and Joy FM.
The end-of-year programme which kept patrons entertained between 6 p.m. and 10 p.m., was attended by the Country for Life (CFL) group and saw outstanding performances from some of its members including Daniel Stinger, Neil West, Priscilla Kotey aka Miss PAK and Abdul Majeed.
The Masters of Ceremony (MCs) were Class 91.3 FM's award-winning on-air personality Korku Lumor and Head of Social Media Edem Kunkpe.
Sponsors for Country Christmas include Gigi's Kitchen, Bel Beverages, Top Choco, Country For Life Band, Akwaaba Ushering Agency, Flora, The Pork Masters and LGHagan Consulting.
Listen to the Country on Class programme Mondays to Thursdays (7 p.m. to 10 p.m.), and Sunday (9 a.m. to noon). It is hosted by multiple award-winning radio presenter, peace ambassador, and Ghana Institute of Journalism (GIJ) lecturer Desmond Lamptey, who has more than 20 years under his belt as a broadcaster.
