Celebrity influence ‘is huge’ in politics, education and more – Guru asserts
“Anyone who says celebrities cannot influence people’s choices in politics [and other areas] has not watched influence in action before,” Guru has said.
The rapper-turned-politician spoke to Nana Romeo on Accra 100.5 FM’s Ayekoo Ayekoo.
“Influence is not just talk. Influence is when you enter a place, someone sees you and is moved to tears – it’s shocking,” he said.
“If an artiste says he is supporting a political figure, trust me, the energy his followers project behind the campaign is crazy.”
The Hiplife star clarified: “It is not by force that every single fan of the celebrity's will follow but the diehard fans will. However, some people don’t have diehard fans. That’s understandable.”
The Level 300 student of the University of Ghana, Legon, and Students Representative Council (SRC) presidential candidate noted how his pursuance of tertiary education has influenced “a lot” of people to go back to school. He expressed gladness for this.
“In the next four years, you’ll see those who were not interested in school reaching out on social media to inform you of how you led them to change their minds. The kind of messages I get because I’ve gone back university is crazy, because it’s influenced people positively,” he testified.
“Our influence is huge in everyone’s space,” he concluded.
