'Chosen': Eugy doubles down on submission to God on new single

Eugene Entsir, professionally called Eugy Official, has released his first song after his baptism.

A Hiphop/R&B piece, it is called Chosen and sees Eugy singing per usual but returning to rap.

"Up late at night reading Psalms, brethren," he spits (raps) on the near-three-minute song. "Guided by the Holy Scriptures, I'm just trying to get away from these broken pictures."

"Hate this feeling like I'm broken, when your heart feels frozen, it's the life of the chosen," the chorus goes, emphasising the emptiness of a life without submission to God – the very circumstance that draws the chosen but wandering person to spiritual revival.

"Looking to the heavens like: 'Father Lord, need you to lead the way from how it was before'," Eugy prays, warning: "The devil really loves to see us in them wars, losing sight of what our purpose is, we go off course."

"Made the first mistake, never do it twice," he underscores his resolution, noting to his audience their personal responsibility: "Only you're to blame if you roll the dice."

"You've got to dig deeper, look inside your soul," he encourages, admonishing also: "What you're trying to hide from God, he already knows. You're fronting like you got it but you really don't. You moving like you will but you really won't."

On Friday, July 7, on Twitter, he teased the new song, releasing a home-made video of him performing a snippet.

His caption also summarised the song: "The past few months made me realise that God doesn’t make mistakes. All the pain and hardships I have faced in this life were all for [a] reason. Being a child of God doesn’t mean a problem free life… rather it means you are equipped with the necessary power to overcome. My message to you all is never give up. This is the life of the chosen."

Notwithstanding his repentance, Eugy stays fashionable for Chosen's cover art. He sports an earring. His emerald background and checked blazer cannot be missed also. In Christian tradition, emerald signifies the resurrection or birth into a new and purer life.

On Monday, June 26, 2023, Eugy tweeted: "Lord, forgive me."

Thursday July 6, he posted on Instagram (IG) a footage of his baptism. It took place in an in-door pool and was officiated by his father and uncle who are clergy members in the United Kingdom (UK).

"If someone asked me at the beginning of 2023 what my year would look like I don’t think this is what I would’ve said. That’s how powerful the Lord is.

"When Jesus calls you there’s nothing you can do about it. You must heed and answer.

"I’ve always said that I know God loves me but I’ve also always tried to manoeuvre using my own might & strength and let’s be honest I wasn’t living righteously - but there comes a point when you realise you must submit to the almighty father and allow his will to be done.

"I’m not perfect. Neither am I better than anyone else but by Gods grace I vow to move forward purposefully and with a clean heart.

"I got baptised last Sunday and I was blessed enough to have my Dad, Pastor Joe (white t-shirt) and Uncle, Pastor Joshua (Grey t-shirt) usher me into this new life.

"I give God all the praise. Looking forward to what the future holds," he captioned the video soundtracked by Todd Dulaney's Victory Belongs to Jesus megahit.
