Chris Brown: I'll 'never' do a Super Bowl performance; American media 'unwelcoming' of me

American Hiphop/R&B superstar Chris Brown has categorically stated that he will never perform at the Super Bowl halftime because his country's media is hostile to him.
The 'Under the Influence' hitmaker said this answering a question by a fan on social media.
Monday, February 13, 2023, Class News' Prince Benjamin sighted a screenshot of the interaction posted by The Shade Room via Twitter.
A fan by name Serenity_Wellness09 asked Brown on Instagram (IG): "When are you performing at the Super Bowl? We need you at the next one!!!"
To this, Chris Brown, alias Breezy, who had been in Dublin, Ireland, for a performance, answered: "Never," explaining that: "American media ain't [is not] for me.
"[I'd] rather be where I'm welcomed."
Serenity_Wellness09's question comes after Rihanna's acclaimed 13-minute Super Bowl performance, Sunday, February 12.
Reacting to the performance at the Farm Stadium, Glendale, Arizona, USA, Chris shared a message via IG Stories cheering Rihanna on with: "Go Girl." He added a praying hands emoji.
The two pop stars were dating until their infamous 2009 fight which ended in Chris Brown assaulting Rihanna. The reunited in 2012, briefly, but eventually ended things the next year.
It would appear that due to the 2009 incident and subsequent legal tussles, Brown fell out of favour with the media.
At the 2022 American Music Awards (AMAs), when Destiny's Child star Kelly Rowland announced Chris Brown as the winner of the Favorite Male R&B Artist award, the crowd booed. In response, Ms Rowland rebuked the audience by saying: "Chill out."
Accepting the trophy on Chris' behalf, Kelly eulogised him saying: "I wanted to tell Chris, thank you so much for making great R&B music and I want to tell him, thank you for being an incredible performer." She indicated she would personally deliver the award to the singer and dancer adding: "I love you. Congratulations."
Kelly Rowland would later tell TMZ that: "I believe that grace is very real, and we all need a dose of it. And before we point fingers at anybody, we should realize how grateful we are for every moment that we get, for even our own things that we have. I just think it’s important to remember to be human. We are humans."
She insinuated that Chris needs to be forgiven.
"We all need to be forgiven for anything that we could be doing, anything that we’re thinking. We all come up short in some sort of way, and grace is real. And we are humans. Everybody deserved grace, period,” she said.
Chris was meant to perform a Michael Jackson tribute for the AMAs audience but the gig was scrapped.
The Hiphop/R&B star is currently on a tour in Europe.
